Figure of the week: Over EUR 1.1 billion of "green" investments are involved in renewable energy projects

This is one of the results that the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine headed by Sergey Savchuk managed to achieve during four years. He said about this at a press conference in the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on August 30. Among other things, one of the most meaningful achievements, in his words, is the reduction of gas consumption by 6 BCM per year compared to 2014. According to him, this means that EUR 1.2 billion remains in the country's economy every year.

Company of the week: American company Holtec intends to arrange production of small nuclear modular reactors in Ukraine

Holtec International, an American engineering company, intends to produce small nuclear reactors in Ukraine. This was announced by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine in the USA Valeriy Chaly during strategic partnership press conference. According to Valeriy Chaly, it can become a significant achievement for Ukraine.

Let us recall that the American company Holtec International builds in Ukraine a central nuclear waste storage. In particular, the company won a tender for the construction of nuclear waste storage for Ukrainian NPP: Rivnenska, Khmelnytska and Yuzhno-Ukrainska.

Event of the week: NEURC may keep in force current "green" tariffs for private households by 2040

The relevant information was posted on the National Commission's Facebook page. According to the bill regarding the implementation of "green" auctions, which offers full-scale transition to auctions from January 1, 2020, the commission proposes to extend the effect of "green" tariffs for households by 2040.

Concerning the implementation of the Law "On the Electricity Market", according to Maxim Bilyavsky, the advisor to the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry, the implementation of the law in the legislative part is completed by 60%. He announced this during a round table organized by the Razumkov Center. In turn, NEURC head Oksana Kryvenko in an interview with Radio NV said that electricity tariffs for the population should remain unchanged before the introduction of the market in July 2019.
