Event of the week:
Donbassenergo and DongfangElectricInternationalCorporation grade-up the Slavyanska TPPSigning
of a contract between the two companies is aimed at preparing facilities for the use of low-grade coal. The contract provides for the separation of the power block No. 6 in two new modern power blocks No.6б and No.6a with a capacity of 330 MW each using the technology of circulating
fluidized bed. The contract price is USD 684,295,700. The objective of the project is to increase TPP efficiency, extend its life time
by 40 years, reduce specific fuel consumption and maintenance costs.
Company of the week:
SE NEC Ukrenergo and GeneralElectricGridSolutions signed a contract for reconstruction of substations in the Kharkiv region
SE NEC Ukrenergo signed a contract with GeneralElectricGridSolutions (Federal Republic of Germany) and Chornomorenergospetsmontazh (Ukraine) for the reconstruction of a 330 kV substations Kharkivska and Zalutyne of the Northern power system. As Ukrenergo reports, substations will be rearranged with new power equipment, cable fittings, relay protection and automation devices. This is going to be further integration of these substations into the ENTSO-E.
Also, the head of the company V.Kovalchuk highlighted the need to introduce residual capacities. With this in view, Ukrenergo considers two major options for solving power system balancing problems by constructing energy storages. The first provides for location of 200 MW of these systems of energy accumulation in one place, the second one - in several places with dividing into 4-5 parts. The project cost is estimated at EUR 154 million.
Technology of the week:
WastetoEnergy: biogas from waste
deposit is processed into electricity in Kamianets-Podilsky
Technology for turning garbage into electricity is very promising. It is currently about out of use in Ukraine. A small station processes biogas from waste deposit into electricity in Kamianets-Podilsky. As the city mayor Mykhailo Simashkevych says, the budget annually receives more than UAH million, as the electricity generated is sold to a centralized electricity supply system at a “green” tariff. 36 wells were drilled through waste deposit to collect biogas. They were brought together in the general network, and fuel is pumped through the collector. The station delivers up to 500 kWh. The plant can produce more than 25 thousand tons of biogas per year.
