Review 25 June – 1 July 2018

Number of the week: the rate of commencement of new RES increased 1.7 times in the second quarter of this year

According to the NEURC, the rate of commencement of new facilities of alternative energy sources increased 1.7 times in the second quarter of this year. Since the beginning of the year, 268.7 MW of "green" generation was commenced. Among the leaders are Kherson, Lviv and Khmelnytsky regions.

Of course, one may only cheer about such pace, as the increase in RES capacities is fully in line with the state energy development programs. Such changes, however, by increasing the share of "green" electricity in a total balance of production sources, also increase wholesale prices, which afterwards will affect the increase in the cost of electricity for consumers. Olga Belkova, the People's Deputy, wrote about this and other questions of electricity pricing on her Facebook page. You can find her comments on page 5.

Event of the week: "green tariffs" were increased for households since June 24

New tariffs for household generating capacities came into force. Total increase is about 0.8%. This is because of adjustment in line with the growth of the euro rate. The tariff will apply to private households generating electricity from solar generating facilities installed on roofs or facades of buildings and structures with a capacity not exceeding 30 kW and wind power facilities of the same capacity.
